The New Sound

Introduction
What incredible amazing days we live in! A time like no other! On one hand we see a rapidly changing world, spiralling into constant uncertainty, chaos, higher costs of living, and impending, significant, global economic and societal changes. This, along with technological expansion we have never seen before, is invading all aspects of life. The control is exponential, and there is a clear shift toward imminent new life changes on earth. What does it all mean?
We are certainly seeing the last days unfolding before our eyes, as written through scripture. But on the other hand, we are witnessing in the midst of it all, great shifts and awakenings taking place in the Church, Body of Christ, all over the world. A continuum of revivals, new moves of God, thousands healed and delivered, and coming to know Jesus Christ. Believers are rising up now, influencing many spheres of society outside the walls of church buildings, be it traditional or contemporary. These ‘end-times’ are certainly different; none of us have been here before, and as musicians, singers and artists we must ask the questions. What does it mean in these days, for our art, and the sounds we produce to resonate throughout the earth to bring supernatural spiritual changes?
Today, in relation to music, many believers are talking about “a new sound coming” in our rapidly changing world. Why is that happening? This concept I have written, prophesied, and sung about for almost 40 years. We are now arriving at that poignant time in history, where this desire for a new sound is stirring in believers hearts. Over the past decades and centuries, to this point in history, all the renaissances of the many arts and music genres has, and will ultimately be… for the end-time purposes of God. Thirty five years ago I released a prophetic album called, ‘Hear the Sound.’ That’s what I was declaring back then, but 2025 plus, is actually now the time for all of us to fully hear that sound… God’s sounds from the heavens for us to bring them into the earth! Unleashed, authentic, wild without religious restraint.
In this hour of God’s restoration, He is now giving all humanity a significant global opportunity to seek and know Him; before the end of this world as we know it, and the return of Jesus to earth in all His glory. We are part of that wake up call with the sound that is to be released through us.
Many musicians and singers are aware of a ‘sound shift’ inside them. They know there is much more to what they do just week to week in church life. Yes! There is a new sound approaching, yet to be realized! Some are part of a new breed of prophet musicians prepared for these last days, who in governing spiritual authority, will declare and release new sound in the airspaces of the earth, causing great and accelerated change. In the Church worship world as we understand it, post pandemic 2021-22 until now in 2025, there has been a growing dialogue and feeling that this new sound will emerge and be heard from God’s people. I have heard some of the most seasoned, global worship music leaders, saying they are aware of something coming, but cannot seem to articulate what it may be. The desire for a new sound is a spiritual shift and a sign of the days we live in - the end-time era of the Church and this world.
The new sound is part of the last days restoration of the Tabernacle of David, the reason; ‘so that the rest of mankind may seek the Lord’ (Acts 15:16-17). What does this mean?
In the ‘worship world,’ nearly all church songs sung today are written by a small handful of half dozen churches, especially in the USA. The narrative and genre has become narrowed down to a certain sound and the way of doing it. However, in this time of immense change, there are literally thousands of churches in the global Body of Christ that need to wake up. Having eyes wide open with revelation and understanding, to bring a new sound into their own regions that God has given them, for territories, cities and nations; for the end-time fulfillment of the ultimate reasons for music, that God created for HIS purposes!
‘Worship music’ in these last days, is not only just about a business; dropping singles, albums, video clips, touring ‘worship,’ record deals, careers etc, as great as those things are, as they have their place. But we are in the midst of the final end-time changes on earth, and the new sound coming will contribute, with supernatural power, to the rest of mankind shifting to seek and know the Lord Saviour Jesus Christ before He returns to earth. This sound goes to battle, because these days are times of the greatest spirtual warfare ever on earth.
So, what is this sound? In my 46 year journey in Jesus Christ, with many ministry experiences in the nations, this revelation of new sound has been an ongoing discovery over years. In this article I invite you to explore this with me…
Genre
The new sound is not a specific add-on genre of music, to what has been to date, in the restoration of worship music in these last decades, especially recently. It’s also not limited to emerging from just a church POV or Sunday service music or event team. It surpasses all boundaries and restrictions and is a sound permeated with glory, power, the will of the Spirit, and for the purposes of the end-times.
The effective power by the Spirit, is essential and important for God’s ultimate end-time purposes of music on earth; it’s not like the world; this is heaven’s business, a strategy and plan God has for His music in the Last Days!
The heaven shaking power of the new sound, emanates from the sanctified, ‘inner life sound’ of a believer’s journey in Jesus; their consecration, surrender, and revelation of being in Christ. People who intimately know Him, are obedient to Him, are dead to self and the pull of the world, and now desire only Him, His will, and His fulness of purpose.
It’s ultimately, the sound of God Himself, embedded within the sound a believer creates from this consecrated, surrendered, intimate position of heart and spirit. It is present and unleashed through the omnipotent power of Holy Spirit. You know it when you hear it. It is the deep calling to the deep (Psalm 42:7).
The World’s Ways?
The new sound for the end-times, is not just a rationalized constructed piece of music for say, a record contract, or to fill an album roster with a focus on clever lyrics written in a writers room, no matter how good it may be. It is something different and carries a greater weight of spirit, anointing and power in the fulfillment of music’s purposes in our end-time era of history.
The new sound is the outcome of believers hearing heaven, receiving it on earth, then articulating that melody, sound and form, through their art. It comes from he or she, who ‘has an ear to hear what the Spirit is saying,’ and they have heard that sound and know what to do with it, no matter how different it may be (Rev 2:11). It awakens our deepest yearnings and turns people to the Lord.
The Price
The art of this in music tumbles out of a consecrated life, by and through the river of life within them (John 7:38); one who pays the price in their journey in all its facets and experiences, to continue following their Saviour Jesus Christ, whom they love, regardless of the cost to themselves or station of life.
The Lord’s love and fullness of His intent is embedded in that sound; it is undeniable and has an immediate action and reaction of power in the spirit and the natural world, wherever it is released on earth. The rain of His Spirit is clearly evident, especially for these days we are living in.
The Profound
The sound is profound, and arrives in synergy with God’s timing; its power saves, heals, delivers, sets free the bound and wounded, breaking the demonic structures of false religion, Jezebel strategies, old stuck traditions, old or new contemporary, that deceive and put people to sleep under their insidious control.
It is a sound that opens revelation to the heart, mind, soul and spirit; to awaken people from false perceptions and end-time deceptions, and to come to the true God of heaven so they may seek Him in all truth in these days (Acts 15:16-17). Finally, they surrender, trust, and turn only to God - forsaking all else.
End-time Phenomenon
The new sound, is an end-time phenomenon. The emerging fullness of the ultimate reasons for music; for Christ’s purposes alone (Colossians 1:16-17).
It’s not just a new career opportunity with a record label, to become a new star artist dropping tracks and cool music video clips, as fun as they are. However, it may require those administrative platforms to help release it into this ‘modern tech AI driven world,’ while we can. But ultimately it is an uncompromised sound unheard of before, and goes beyond the paradigms of music that we have known, journeying with its own specific Spirit led quest and power.
The sharp clarity of the sound, and its spiritual power, literally shifts the atmospheres over churches, cities and nations, bringing accelerated changes.
The Full Weight of Heaven
The new sound is not a weak sound, but a fathomless and profound resonance, carrying the growing fulness of the restorative apostolic, prophetic, governmental authority of Christ into the earth.
The sound carries the full weight and intention of heaven in these last days, to help facilitate and bring massive global change in the midst of the deception and chaos. Helping to elevate Jesus Christ in all the truth of who He truly is.
The Sound of War & Battle
The new sound wars and battles just by its existence, similar to the singular Old Testament example of Jehoshaphat (2 Chronicles 20:21). It took only one prophetic lyric line from heaven (not a song list set); a bold decreed and declared short word sent from heaven for a battle field, igniting the spiritual unseen world.
The atmosphere profoundly shifted when the line was sung, causing the enemy to destroy one another, a result that brought peace to five nations coming against Israel to destroy them; in that melody the destruction just didn’t happen!
In these last days there is an even greater immense battle for the truth of who Jesus Christ truly is, and the reality that there is coming an imminent end, and Jesus King of kings and Lord of lords will indeed … return to this earth.
This is prophecy we should all expect as believers, but ironically it’ll also be difficult for many to navigate and accept; because it comes with an actual end of the world as we have known it for these many centuries. Yes! Time’s up! The ‘Great Sims Director’ in the sky is wrapping up the first design Universe, Heaven and Earth; it’s purpose… done! He has a new ‘Eternity Game!’ And it’s insanely intelligent, creative and smart; only believers get to play in its wonder!
The Full Power of Holy Spirit
The new sound has a full power surge of God’s Holy Spirit, to resonate and speak into the driest bones, making them come alive with ‘fresh blood, sinew and muscle’ (Ezekiel 37:1-9). The sound ultimately helps to create an army that will see the gospel preached in all the world before the end comes (Matthew 24:14).
The Prophetic Sound of Decree
The new sound in these last days, is not just to continually sing nice predictable set lists of highly produced ‘worship songs’ or hymns to God, the way we have always done in church gatherings and meetings inside ornate or corporate buildings on Sundays, as good as they may be! Times are rapidly changing, and we must adjust.
However, we’re also seeing in this end-time era, the unquestionable power and effect of bold Christian worship music and song. It’s breaking out all over the world; outside in revivals, mass baptisms, in the streets, halls of government, and in large salvation and healing events, beyond traditional buildings. This is a great sign of Holy Spirit moving in the earth.
It’s also now the hour for music decree’s, declaring and prophesying to the spiritual breath in your region, city, and all the nations; unrestricted, not controlled, releasing absolute uncompromised truth from faith filled lives, with complete authority and boldness. Individuals who know how to freely enter His presence with direct instant access - confidently and boldly approaching the Lord’s throne by faith in the blood of the Lamb; there are no formulas!
The temple veil was ripped in two (Matthew 27:51). It’s time in our spiritual liberty to bring heaven’s sounds and strategies to earth! Being discerning believers who have heard the sound and what the Spirit is saying to the Church. Then sing, play, orchestrate, and reflect it from heaven, into the whole world.
Those that do, will help bring immense change in these end days. In this hour our planet groans and aches for the true sons and daughters of God to rise up in the earth (Romans 8: 21-22), and for the Bride of Christ to make herself ready; there’s also the new sound coming right alongside her beautiful dress!
The new sound can fill any art; some will paint, dance, write, make a film, take radical photos, create designs, and many other ideas never seen or heard before. Through their act of creating, they bring a continuum of poetic motion in releasing the glory to God, yet connecting to the world in such a way, that the fulness of the purpose of music and the arts and it’s power in the end-times, will ultimately help to cause miracles … one of them is…‘the rest of mankind may seek the Lord.’ (Acts 15:16-17).

At this point, I introduce you to my brother, colleague, close friend of many years and a contributor part of the new ETW Music Collective family; Kevin Rankin. He is a wonderful creative, and an incredible musician, music producer, songwriter, photographer, with wise intelligence, carrying a powerful prophetic music gift and anointing. The following is his recent bold prophetic piece, written on the new sound, something he has carried in his heart for a very long time…
Kevin: “In the current conversation of the New Sound, I must say, it is much more profound and to be widely spread than only coming from a ministry POV within the structure of ‘church’ organizations. This new sound is the beginning of a deluge in these end-times. It will be an outpouring on all flesh (Acts 2:17); a sound unfettered by industry style, genre, trend, or fad. It will be uncontrollable, unpredictable, and triumphantly free of a methodology process or expectation. It is majestic, mighty and unstoppable; crossing taboo’s, belief systems, and religious resistance or formulas.
There will be ‘trumpets for sure, and seven angels blowing them’ (Revelation 8:6)! But it comes to me that this new sound will arrive with a distinct warning. It will be a sound to harken to, pay attention to, and for all of us to take heed. There is a fresh wind from heaven to come, bringing freedom and victory for those who truly ‘have an ear to hear what the Spirit is saying’ (Revelation 2&3).
This new sound will not be just entertaining, but it will be a challenge. It will cut through culture, creed, and tribalism. It will be the executioner of hypocrisy and a hangman to the corruption of truth. It will be the sound of redemption, salvation, and ultimately completion!
I was thinking this morning about our new ETWMC song, ‘RAIN’ and the coming ‘deluge and flood’ in the end-times. The scripture reads, “As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: they ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all” (Matthew 24:37-39).
Our own sound is also a warning; the sound in this era is ultimately a heralding of the imminent return of Jesus. This violent corrupt world is mostly oblivious of the impending dangers about to sweep the globe. This world today is a parallel of society in Noah’s time as Jesus said. The warning is consequential; the Flood of Noah, and the Fire of Lot in their day, as examples. And in the new sound will be imbued the rumbling threat of flood, and the roaring sound of fire, with the outpouring of the latter rain of the Lord’s Spirit in all of heaven’s thundering (James 5:7).
The power and specifics of articulating this sound is through having an ear to hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches in these last days (Revelation 2:9, 3:6). It’s by His grace alone… but are we all listening?
Therefore, in these times, the new sound has to be more than just the 7 major notes & 5 flats in the 12 note western scale; from Bach to the Beatles it’s all been done before! It won’t come from just a re-arrangement by a music director, or simply an edict from a pastor or worship leader, it won’t even be a tidy message; it will be found by those individuals who will worship Him in Spirit and in Truth (John 4:24).
Then they will hear the sound of Destiny in Drums, Glory in Guitars, the Victory in their Voice, as they each turn their hearts towards Him alone and take a walk with the Lord Jesus, across His Landscape of Worship. Each little path leading to a different new sound; peace, joy, healing, salvation, warfare, revival & restoration.
I saw this years ago, and went on my own personal reinvigorating walk with Him.
Sitting out in the surf watching the whales jumping, the sun shining, the off-shore wind feathering the tips of the waves; pure inspiration! Being led to the peaceful waters of gratefulness, I find the trickling new sound of contentment, with salt on my skin and the Son in my heart. The things of this world and all its noise and sounds, grows strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace…(Joel 3:15)!” By Kevin Rankin.

The Sound Heard
Stephen: As a young prophetic believer in the early 1980s, the sound I’ve heard for many years since, has often been big, even if it has intimate tones. Intimate does not have to be just quiet, it can be loud, big and epic… if needed. The truth is; the ‘intimate’ sounds of glory worship in heaven according to scripture, are way beyond epic, they are as big as you can possibly dream and imagine.
In the journey of life, a true dream comes to pass in its perfect time, usually when God moves and you move with Him!
Apostle John, in his amazing filmic vision trip to heaven’s ‘Revelation’ theatre, witnessed the largesse and loud of 100,000,000 (One hundred million plus) worshiping and declaring. There were ‘ten thousand time ten thousands and thousands and thousands,’ my goodness, it could have been any number! The fact is; John was often gloriously overwhelmed in the heavenly vision with epic sound. (Rev 5:11).
One day all the music in this world will end! All what will be left filling the voids, is the incredible deluge of the new and epic sounds of heaven; big sound from an immensely BIG GOD! (Revelation 18:22-19:1).
Now is the time to have an ear to hear the new sound; for you, your church, your life, the global end-time Church, and the moves and Spirit outpourings of God on all the world. It’s time to be ready, for these are truly the last days. Coda:

Final Thoughts for today…
None of us have been in the end of the end-times before, with all the invasion of technology we experience on every level of life.
We read about the end-times in the Bible, but now we are actually here, our journey is to understand and learn to navigate it all.
We must be ready as worshippers, and be true sons and daughters of God, ‘led by the Spirit’ (Romans 8:14).
Global societal shifts and changes are accelerating at exponential rates in this world. We all need understanding how to navigate the chaotic and pressured times now and ahead of us, as worshipping believers of Jesus Christ. As Christianity continues to be vilified and other religion rises trying to take over the world.
Despite everything, we are designed to worship, be wise, critical intelligent thinkers, and continue living it out on earth while we can.
If you’re in struggle street of any kind, God has a family / church / company of people / tribe / a place where you’ll fit; ask God and he will show you.

It’s a New Era of History
In 2021, I wrote a blog stating; ‘we have now transitioned in this time of immense change, into a New Era of History, both in the world at large, and in the Church.’
Things have never been the same since the plan-demic, and will not be ever again.
‘A New Awakening’ has emerged in the world now, and the gospel is being preached everywhere like never before. Now in November 2025+, everything is moving forward rapidly. Not just in spiritual awareness, but millions of people are well informed and awakened to the lies, deceptions and agendas of this world, that were, and still are being enforced upon humanity. PRAYER OF FAITH: The Call to give your life to Jesus Christ.
No matter where you are in your Christian walk, Jesus is with you; in your triumphs and trials, to the end! If you have never known God; know this;
“Lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the world (ages)” Amen’ Matthew 28:20. ‘But he who endures to the end shall be saved. And the gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.’ Matthew 24:13-14.
Pray this prayer from your heart and your spirit will come alive to God, for with him there is hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11).
“My Father in heaven, I give you my life, I repent of all my sin, recreate me brand new. I give you my heart. Fill me Lord Jesus Christ with Your Holy Spirit. I believe You died for me on the cross, and by Your shed blood, you washed away my sins once and for all. Raise me from my deadness of my life to live a new life, just like you Jesus, when you were raised from the dead; I believe you did that. Make my spirit reborn, and let me come alive too, filled with Your Holy Spirit.”
“I believe I belong to you Lord. Help me to know you well, teach me Your ways, that I become all that I am meant to be. Help me to love and find love. I thank you Lord that you will always be with me, Amen.”
